I completed a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at the University of Alberta, and then moved to Australia to complete a Masters in Physiotherapy Studies from the University of Queensland. After finishing my Masters, I worked in Brisbane, Australia before returning home to practice in Edmonton. The Aussie’s are world leaders in physio, and I thoroughly enjoyed my experience there. My work experience, both international and local, includes both public and private sectors of physiotherapy. I was also recently certified to teach Pilates, and find that the principles of Pilates fit very well with physiotherapy and rehabilitation.
I believe patients need to actively engage in their recovery for success. The quality of your life is greatly affected by your ability to participate in and enjoy your favourite activities, so I am to personalize your treatment towards these things. I encourage my patients to learn to move their bodies well, both safely and efficiently.
As a former competitive figure skater, I have learned to appreciate how important it is to take care of your body. Since retiring from skating, I have done some off-ice coaching in this area. In my spare time, I try to stay active with a variety of things- skating, hiking, or hitting the river valley for a bike ride. I also love going to concerts, getting some fresh air in the mountains, or kicking back at the lake.
