In second year University, I had a light bulb moment that came during a sports injury class where I realized my life’s work would revolve around sport and physical conditioning. I had the opportunity to work with the University of Alberta Golden Bears football and basketball teams, and the SAIT men’s volleyball team as a student trainer. Being surrounded by athletics in my undergrad, I pursued my dream of working in professional sports by becoming a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist, Certified Athletic Therapist and Certified Athletic Trainer.
Right out of school, I began my career with the Edmonton Road Runners hockey team of the AHL. From there, I moved to the Edmonton Eskimos football team and eventually worked my way to the Edmonton Oilers.
After game 7 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs in Carolina in 2006, I decided to venture out on my own and open SPARK Sport Conditioning – Edmonton’s premier strength and conditioning facility.
Since opening in 2007, our team has worked with hundreds of people in search of finding their inner athlete, as well as many youth, university, national, and professional level athletes.
SPARK has organically become a community in and of itself. A place where people know each other, encourage each other and become friends. Since its inception, the members at SPARK have fundraised and donated over $200,000 to local Edmonton charities and organizations.
